Projects undertaken during the course included:

  • Designing a mobile app prototype to help the residents of York, England, find volunteer opportunities around them. The study involved a mixed methods approach for data gathering, Collaborative Heuristic Evaluation and task-based user testing to evaluate the design.

  • Investigated how social media apps are perceived differently depending upon their design elements. This investigation involved secondary research, literature reviews and user interviews. Thematic analysis was used to identify themes in the data to address the research questions.

  • Analysed data on SPSS to find a relationship between user screen time and their quality of life.

  • A comparison of Collaborative Heuristic Evaluation and task-based user testing on e-commerce websites.

  • A low-fidelity design for a rental website to discover accommodation for students.

Projects undertaken during the course included:

  • Building a radar system to sense an obstacle within 2 metres and redirect its route. My team and I won first place for this project at the university's Annual Tech Fest in 2019.

  • My team and I built a Smart Dustbin using the Internet of Things (IoT). The Bin senses body movements and automatically opens up its lid.

  • For my final year dissertation, I worked on a Text-to-Speech (TTS) model using Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP). The project aimed to design a TTS model for people with speech impairments. The coding was done in Python programming language and the model operated on top of the in-built Python libraries instead of Google Translate or other online translators. I scored 98/100 (Distinction) for the dissertation project.
